Q. I'm doing a paper on Islamic art, but haven't narrowed down my topic yet. Where should I start looking?

For background information & articles, we recommend Ancient and Medieval History Online (Oakton username & password required).  Search for terms such as Islamic art, Islamic painting, & Islamic sculpture.

Grove Art Online Oxford is another good resource. You can enter a search for Islamic art (or related) or browse by biographies, subject entries and images. Check under under the Tools & Resources for relevant subject guides, collections guides, and timelines of world art options.

To find books in the Oakton Library Catalog (also known as O.W.L.), do a keyword search for “Islamic art.”  Note the call number and location for each title of interest.  The majority of the titles are located in Oakton’s Des Plaines campus library.
