Oakton Library provides a couple of databases that you can use for retrieving old Chicago Tribune issues. An Oakton username and password is required for both of these resources.

The Historical Chicago Tribune via Proquest includes full-text and full-images of the Chicago Tribune in a searchable archive back to the first issue, from 1849 through 1991. The Chicago Tribune via ProQuest provides searchable full-text from daily Chicago Tribune articles published 1985 to the present.
